April New

It's that time of year where the daylight hours are finally feeling longer, the leaves on the trees are starting to emerge, and we can at least put the heaviest of our winter wear away for awhile. There is something about this time of year that can give us feeling a sense of renewed energy. You might even feel a bit of spring fever, looking for a fresh start - whether that's changing habits, adding a great outdoor space, updating part of your home, or even making the move to a new home!

The market is also seeing some changes. There has been an influx of available inventory for sale over the last month, which has Calgary seeing a more balanced market than over the last year.

On that note, I've just listed a gorgeous home in Tuxedo Park. Built just last year in 2024, this home is the perfect blend of modern luxury and sophisticated design. Just minutes to downtown, and surrounded by amazing amenities including parks, restaurants, shopping (and more), this home has so much to offer. Check out the listing details and video below. I've also included a little profile on the Tuxedo Park community itself.

In this newsletter, I've shared the latest real estate market numbers as well as some easy tips on going green (in celebration of Earth Day next week 🌍). And if you have a sweet tooth, you may be interested to learn what the top Easter treats were this time last year! 🐰

If you are looking to make a change this spring (as mentioned above) and are considering listing or buying a new home in the next few months, give me a call and we can discuss your options.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful Easter Weekend!

10 Easy Ways to Go Green at Home

Tuesday, April 22 is Earth Day, a day meant to raise awareness, promote environmental protection and help individuals realize everyone can make a difference in protecting the planet, even in their day to day lives. First celebrated 55 years ago in 1970, Earth Day has grown to be a day that is observed by over 1 billion people worldwide!
Wondering what you can do on Earth Day, and everyday to go a little more green in your home? Here are 5 things you might consider doing (if you aren't already!)

  • Switch your lightbulbs to energy efficient types, like LED bulbs, and put lights on a timer or smart home management system where you can.
  • Lower the temperature on your hot water heater.
  • Use cloth instead of paper to clean your kitchen. Repurpose old towels and t-shirts and cut them into small cleaning cloths.
  • Check all taps and toilets for leaks and drips and repair where necessary.
  • Limit your Household food waste. You can limit your household food waste by portioning your meals reasonably, only buying what you need and using food waste as fertilizer for soil and plant.
  • Wash laundry in cold water instead of hot.
  • Plant a simple backyard garden, with bird and bee friendly plants and/or veggies and herbs.
  • Install a smart thermostat to better manage the heating and cooling cycles of your home.
  • Use biodegradable household products. These might include: recycled toilet paper, natural ingredient shampoo, and washcloths made from hemp or agave fibres.
  • Replace your your window seals every 5-10 years. As they expand and contract with the changing temperature over time, they lose their air-tight grip which can cause your home heating and cooling systems to have to work harder.
Being more conscious of the environment is becoming increasingly important.. There are various ways an individual can make sustainable changes to reduce the impacts to the environment our daily lives may contribute to, with not a lot of effort!
